The City Lights Reporter Online News Journal December 2001 -Volume 4 Issue 7 Ray Charles World TributeTo The Victims Of TerrorismInterServe Networks, Inc. is currently organizing an international webcast featuring Ray Charles and over a 100 entertainers and celebrities. This first of its kind online event is intended to support our governments efforts to demonstrate the American concern for all people of the world who have been victims of terrorism. This is a non-profit event and they need people and companies to donate talent, technical expertise, web casting services, hardware, software and/or financial assistance. You can go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RCworldtribute to find more detail information about this spectacular star-filled event. Most are aware that the hi-tech community has been strangely silent as traditional communication mediums (TV, radio, and print) have produced benefits and fundraisers for the victims of the 9/11 tragedy. InterServe Networks believes that "The Ray Charles World Tribute To The Victims of Terrorism" will demonstrate an international cohesion and support for the United States lead coalition against terrorism as only the Internet could deliver. As President Bush and Secretary Colin Powell have been constantly emphasizing; We are not at war with the Afghan people or the religion of Islam, but with people who's hands have shed innocent blood "Terrorist". InterServe Networks intends to deliver this message that they believe will touch a common denominator in all mankind. Regardless of nationality, religion, or culture we can all agree that waging war against innocent civilians is "Wrong" and will not be accepted in modern society - Any Where In The World.
The
Ray Charles World Tribute To The Victims of Terrorism A 24 hour Webcast, Recognizing The Victims Of
Terrorism World Wide. The show will
be made up of over 100 entertainers performing songs and testimonials about love
and world peace. There will be no
economic component to the show, no asking for donations, no marketing pitches.
Everyone that signs on for access to the feed will have to make a written
pledge to denounce terrorism as the price of admission. It is our intent to deliver a message that will
touch a common denominator in all mankind.
Regardless of nationality, religion, or culture we can all agree that
waging war against innocent civilians is "Wrong" and will not be
accepted in modern society. This first of its kind online event is intended to
support our government’s efforts to demonstrate the American concern for all
people of the world who have been victims of terrorism.
All monies or in-kind services donated by sponsoring companies or
corporations will be used entirely to cover production costs of the event.
This event is completely non-profit and all donations, be they monetary
or in products and services will be tax deductible. This type of production is
ideally suited for the Internet. With
the full support of the dot.com hardware and software companies, we can utilize
the existing high-speed digital pipeline already in place, including wireless
and traditional broadcast platforms. Every cable company has a fully equipped video production studio in every major city in the United States. Universities and colleges across the country and around the world have similar production facilities. All of these entities have direct access to high-speed data lines. By using these existing facilities, all the entertainers and performers would have to do, is go to their local cable company or college and perform one song or video tape their message. Our goal is to secure 100 or more artists and celebrities to contribute at least a five minute performance or statement in support of our cause. With the major world ISP's participating, we can easily set up the sign in sites and centralize the incoming data. All during the show we will be promoting the online numbers similar to any pledge or fundraising event. This would be a real time demonstration of what the World Wide Web can do. If we can pull the major players together to donate their existing infrastructure we could have millions of people around the world online for one event. in one space and at one time. Think of it the same as the "Millennium Celebrations of 2000". This would be a boost to the entire dot.com industry. It would show everyone not only the capability of the Internet, but also the future of the Net. Imagine what would happen if millions of people came
together in one accord musically to denounce terrorism and waging war against
innocent civilians. We may never
stop wars but maybe with a couple million signatures on a digital petition, we
can get governments and political groups to change the way wars are fought.
We might never stop extremism but maybe those with extreme ideas might
come to understand that terrorism, as a form of political protest, is not
acceptable in modern day society "Anywhere In The World".
Maybe by motivating the leaders of the world we can make a difference
with this new communications tool called the Internet.
