IMAGINE....
An
Environment
Where
The
City
Never
Sleeps
And
The
Music
Never
Ends
!!!
Now,
imagine
this
extraordinary
universe
tailored
to
the
preferences
and
needs
of
Jazz
lovers,
surrounded
by
their
own
cultural
hybrid
of
Jazz
sights,
sounds,
and
entertainment
in
this
"The
City
Of
Lights."
That
was
the
long
and
short
of
a
Jazz
Entertainment
Society
weekend.
The
9th
Annual
Las
Vegas
City
of
Lights
Jazz
Festival
was
held
April
27,
2002
at
Hills
Park
Amphitheater
in
Summerlin.
The
Jazz
Entertainment
Society
(JES)
built
3
full
days
of
events
around
it
to
create
the
ideal
Jazz
weekend.
Friday
night
was
a
VIP
welcoming
reception,
held
at
the
Suncoast
Resort
and
Casino.
Complete
with
a
celebrity
guest
jazz
combo
made
up
of
local
all
stars
and
headed
by
Billy
Nunn.
The
champagne
was
flowing
and
the
dance
floor
grooving
as
JES
members
met
and
greeted
each
other
in
anticipation
of
the
events
ahead.
On
Saturday,
Michael
Schivo
festival
organizer
and
producer
put
on
a
successful
event
and
added
another
badge
of
honor
to
his
reputation
as
Las
Vegas’s
premier
concert
promoter.
Hills
Park
Amphitheater
is
the
perfect
Jazz
venue
in
the

Valley.
Located
in
the

a
panoramic
view

This
year
that

was
in
full
effect.
When
Randy
Crawford
broke
into
her
world
famous
song
“Street
Life”
people
all
around
the
park
let
out
a
holler
and
danced
in
the

to
a
full
rendition
of

about
the
impact
of
Jazz
on
Commander’s
Palace
family

chain
of
fine
restraints.
He
has
been
greeting
and
seating
guests
at
Commander’s
Palace
in
New
Orleans
since
he
was
ten-years-old.
The
restaurant
business

Jazz

of
the
Brennan

code.
Their
newest
restaurant
is
located
in
the
Desert
Passage
Mall
at
the
Aladdin
Hotel
&
Casino.
Being
from
New
Orleans,
their
family
restaurant
has
been
hosting
and
supporting
jazz
events
since
their
inception
in
the
late
1880's.
Commander’s
Palace
holds
a
record
title
with
Zagat
Survey
as
the
most
popular
restaurant
in
New
Orleans
for
14
years
straight
from
1988
to
2001
and
has
been
named
the
No.

They
are
eternally
linked
with
the
rich
culture
of
New
Orleans
Jazz
and
fine
Creole
food.
Commander’s
Palace
has
been
a
New
Orleans
landmark
known
for
the
award-winning
quality
of
its
food,
service
and
commodious
dining
rooms.
Commander’s
reflects
the
best
of
New
Orleans
cuisine,
both
Creole
and
American
heritages,
while
maintaining
its
status
as
leader
in
the
culinary
world.
According
to
Food
Historian,
John
Mariani,
“Commander’s
and
Chef
Jamie
Shannon
are
doing
the
best
all
around
cooking
in
the
Crescent
City…
at
the
top
of
the
game.
And
the
hospitality
of
the
place
is
as
infectious
as
ever.
Continuing
the
Commander’s
Palace
tradition,
the
world-renowned
cuisine
will
combine
New
Orleans
and
Creole
food
incorporating
ingredients
indigenous
to
the
Las
Vegas
area.
“We
have
always
tried
to
welcome
each
guest
as
if
we
were
welcoming
them
into
our
homes,”
said
Brad
Brennan.
“It’s
not
policy
--
it’s
just
what
we
do
and
what
we
have
been
doing
throughout
our
lifetimes.
