First
Friday's
is
a
national
networking
organization
which
meets
on
the
first
Friday
of
every
month.
The
local
chapter
here
in
Las
Vegas
is
breaking
new
ground
in
mixing
community,
business,
and
social
groups
in
a
highly
professional
but
entertaining
environment.
Under
the
new
leadership
of
Dereck
Hibbler
President
and
Board
Members
Charlina
Williams,
Buzz
Monroe,
and
Kristy
Rodriguez
they
are
creating
opportunities
for
business
and
forming
a
viable
support
network
of
people
and
resources
for
the
community. Their
corporate
purpose
is
to
feature
an
array
of
organizations,
corporations,
entrepreneurs,
and
vendors
to
give
them
additional
exposure
to
the
Las
Vegas
community.
They
are
a
determined
group
of
community
leaders
intent
on
bridging
the
information
gap
by
focusing
First
Friday's
participants
and
members
on
the
social
and
economic
needs
of
the
valley
thereby
creating
employment
and
business
opportunities
for
this
community. The
May
Mixer
was
held
at
Bugsy's
lounge
on
the
corner
of
Jones
and
Sahara.
The
entertainment
was
provided
by
Gypsy
Nights,
"Purveyors
of
Smooth
Rhythms"
a
well
known
local
jazz
group.
The
event
was
well
attended
and
many
of
the
First
Friday's
regular
members
we're
busy
passing
out
business
cards,
brochures,
and
making
deals.
Yoland
Chapman
of
Alarms,
an
ADT
authorized
dealer
was
quick
to
let
me
know
her
company
was
offering
special
discounts
and
free
services
to
First
Friday's
members.
Ramona
Gray
of
Pre-Paid
Legal
was
pointing
out
all
the
local
attorneys
of
color
that
her
firm
worked
with.
Iris
Jones-Vincent
owner/operator
of
Roots
Salon
gave
a
glowing
endorsement
of
how
beneficial
her
participation
in
First
Friday's
has
been
to
her
business.
Dr.
Edwards
was
there
promoting
the
services
of
Kazico,
a
web
development
company. President
Dereck
Hibbler,
spent
a
little
time
to
outline
the
benefits
of
membership
in
First
Friday's.
He
told
me
how
they
are
currently
giving
50%
discounts
on
six
month
membership
packages.
As
a
member
of
First
Friday's
you
not
only
get
discounts
on
monthly
mixers
and
at
several
local
businesses,
but
they
have
a
Newsletter
that
highlights
local
events,
tech
tips,
restaurant
revues,
and
what
I
especially
liked
"First
Friday's
Feel
Good
Fixins'"
a

hangover
tips,
life
style
advice
and
just
plain
good
news. Let
me

on

in

and

in

while
working
together
on

First
Friday's.
